Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Azure, issuant from a mount arched chevron reversed Vert, Mt. Hood Argent. Attached below the shield a gold scroll inscribed "WE LEAD" in Blue letters

Symbolism
The shield is blue for Infantry. The green hills and snow-capped mountain against the blue sky, in symbolic form, allude to the organization of the regiment in Oregon after World War I.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 382d Regiment Infantry, Organized Reserves on 20 Oct 1932. It was redesignated for the 382d Regiment, with description updated, on 15 Jul 1999.
